Flying club

Aeroplane hire by the hour for leisure and business flying

Almost like owning one?

Maintaining an aeroplane certified under EASA Part-21 is not only expensive but also time-consuming (following EASA regulations, ferrying the aircraft for scheduled maintenance). Joining our club will give you the availability of aircraft on par with outright ownership, yet without having to buy the thing and bear the fixed costs, such as insurance and hangarage.

Availability is by far the biggest advantage - our aeroplanes are not used for ab-initio training in a school, so there is no need to compete for them with instructors and students.

Advantages of the aircraft hire through a club
  • Transparent prices
  • You only pay for the time when you fly
  • Availability and flexibility
  • No fixed costs of ownership
  • Booking by the hour
  • Aeroplane overseen by an engineer

How does it work?

Anyone who holds a valid PPL(A) or LAPL(A) licence and 70+ hours of experience can join our club. After a checkout flight with an instructor and signing the agreement the pilot can hire an aeroplane and fly it as pilot-in-command. The aeroplanes are based at the Poznań - Ławica airport.

First steps

Get familiar with our terms & conditions, location and prices, and let us know. Our usual practice is to have a conversation on MS Teams, followed by scheduling your checkout flight.

Checkout flight

Expect a 3-hour meeting, consisting of a pre-flight briefing, a checkout flight lasting around one hour, and a post-flight debrief, followed by some paperwork to join the club.

And then...

Fly whenever you want! Reserve the aircraft in our booking system, come to the airport and get airborne.

Our fleet

The main aircraft type in the Westwings fleet is a 4-seat Piper Warrior II, manufactured by the Piper Aircraft Corporation in years 1977-1995. It has become a great commercial success and it is still possible to this day to purchase a new Warrior III.

Maximum take-off mass ranges from 1055 to 1107 kg, depending on the year of manufacture. It has 4 seats and cruises at around 100 knots.

Training

We will shortly start offering the usual training courses defined by Part-FCL, like LAPL and PPL courses. For the time being we can offer a number of short courses and refresher flights, to help you build on your existing pilot skills and acquire new ones.

SEP(L) renewals

A number of pilots who obtained the PPL(A) licence and didn't pursue a commercial route, stop flying within a year from their skill test. If you would like to return to flying but the confidence isn't there or your SEP(L) rating has expired, please get in touch with us. We will gladly help you get your wings back and renew the rating.

Training flights

If you are already a licenced pilot and need to fly with an instructor for any reason, including the SEP(L) revalidation, we will be more than happy to help.

One of the requirements to revalidate SEP(L) by experience is a 1-hour refresher training flight with an instructor in the last 12 months of the rating's validity.

Hour building

To ensure equity in access to the fleet with long-standing club members, our current capacity is up to two hour-builders at any given time.  For those interested we offer individually priced hour packages. Ask us for a quotation today - use the club form but tick the hour building option.
